Give your kids some lunch box inspiration

Back to school time is both exciting and busy for parents and children. Despite the challenges, there are many easy ways to ensure your kids are provided all the energy they need to help ensure classroom success.

Sandwich Squares

Sandwiches are a basic go-to for school lunch breaks. For fussy eaters, cut the crusts and add fillings of your choice, then cut into four little squares. Northern Bakehouse Gluten Free Bread is always a good option, along with Hellman’s Real Mayonnaise for an added punch of flavour.

Filling Combos:

  • mayo, cucumber, ham
  • mayo, tomato, cheese

Lunch Rolls (Sandwich Sushi)

Sushi might be too much for young palates to appreciate, but these lunch rolls will surely be enjoyed by any child. First, cut off the crusts of your white Wonder Bread. Next, use a rolling pin to flatten the bread then add your fillings. Now, simply roll the bread tightly and secure with a toothpick if needed. Voila, sandwich sushi!

Filling Combos:

  • CO-OP GOLD PURE® Fruit Spreads with nut butter or alternative
  • lunch meat, cheese and bell pepper
  • cream cheese and thinly sliced cucumber

Protein Pita

Protein is important to keep young ones full, attentive and brimming with energy. Pitas make a great textural and flavourful option that will keep your kids on their culinary toes. You can also fill pitas with various ingredients that might not work as well with traditional sandwiches.

Filling Combos:

  • cream cheese, avocado and bacon
  • CO-OP GOLD PURE® Hummus and veggies
  • chocolate or nut spread with thinly sliced fruit
