Coffee Hacks to Keep You Full of Beans

Whether you’re a latte, cappuccino, or a simple espresso person, sometimes an at-home brew just doesn't compare to getting a barista-made concoction at your neighbourhood coffee shop.

But coffee shops may not always be an option, meaning no fancy frothy coffees…until now.

We’ve put together a list of Co-operative Coffee hacks that bring that trendy coffee bar right into your kitchen so that you can say, “Hasta la vista, barista!”

Love You a Latte

There’s nothing that will beat the rich frothy creaminess of a latte, made with your favourite milk and steamed just right.

No milk frother? No problem. Use your French press! Simply heat up your milk or milk substitute, and pour it into the press. Pump the plunger a few times, and you’ll get perfectly frothed milk (and a mini workout). Now, just brew up your Co-operative Coffee of choice, and pour the velvety milk on top. Bonus points if you can work some coffee art magic.

Not So Vanilla, Vanilla

If a flavoured latte is your coffee shop order of choice, you’re in luck! Make your own flavoured syrup, and create your favourite vanilla-infused latte at home.

Boil together one cup of water and one cup of sugar. Add one tablespoon of Co-op Gold Vanilla Extract for a simple flavoured syrup. This mix will generate enough syrup to last you a while, so you can be generous with your coffee flavouring! Make sure to store your mix in an airtight container and keep refrigerated.

We recommend pairing the syrup with our Costa Rica coffee blend. With smoky aromas and hints of dark chocolate and nuts, the vanilla syrup will be the final touch to a deliciously sweet coffee.

Hot Tip: Make a flavoured latte by adding the syrup to your milk before frothing.

Mocha Me Crazy

Chocolate and coffee are a match made in sweet, sweet heaven. If you often find yourself craving a creamy, rich mocha, then you’ll be thrilled to learn that they can be added to your at-home brewing rotation.

Simply add a tablespoon of Co-op Gold Instant Hot Chocolate to your next cup of steaming Co-operative Coffee and top off with milk. We recommend our Breakfast blend to complement the sweet hit from the chocolate.

Espresso Yourself

Being locked in or snowed in shouldn't get in the way of your piping hot wake-up call. Espresso is perfectly doable without the expensive gear and can be made in a humble French press.

Espresso is all about the beans, and you can be sure that our Co-operative Coffee beans will serve a great cup, every time. Use approximately two tablespoons of our Espresso blend per cup of hot water. Pour the hot water slowly into the French press and stir. Let that sit for about three minutes, then plunge and serve!

Hot tip: Ensure your beans are ground appropriately for a French press. The extra fine grind required for a typical espresso maker will seep through the mesh of the plunger, leaving you with a cup full of coffee grounds.

(Cold) Brew Can Do It!

On-demand cold brew or iced coffee at home is as easy as logging into Zoom. Make coffee ice cubes by pouring brewed Co-operative Coffee into an ice tray and letting it freeze. Let the coffee cool to room temperature before pouring into the tray. Once frozen, you can simply pop the cubes straight from the freezer into a glass, douse with cold milk or your preferred milk substitute and enjoy!

There’s nothing like the smell of freshly roasted beans to get you out of bed in the morning. Give any of these at-home coffee hacks a try, and make your day with Co-operative Coffee!
