Kombucha isn’t exactly new – the exact origins aren’t known, but it may date back more than 2,000 years. However, it has experienced a surge in popularity in recent years because it’s a light, effervescent drink with purported health benefits.
Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage that acts as a probiotic, which may help improve digestion. Calgary-based Well Juicery is producing three varieties for Co-op – grape, raspberry and lemon ginger – which are now available in cans, among the first canned products in Canada.
